Jaipur Research Studio

Lead Critics: Maria Gonzalez Aranguren and
Pankaj Vir Gupta
Location: Jaipur, Rajasthan, India
Area: Various Scales
Term: Fall 2019

During the first two - three week phase of the Jaipur Research Studio, the students focus on a general understanding of Indian life and culture and a more focused urban analysis on the context of Jaipur. Students split into four groups investigating the topics of Water, Urban Ecology, Socio Economics, and Transportation, each of which are critical to study within this context to understand the particularities of this place and how it currently does or needs to operate in the future. Students gather this research before they complete the studio trip to India so they are able to validate their findings with on site observations. Because there is a great deal of overlap from one topic to the next, all of the students share the research and are able to use what is critical to explain their project proposals in later phases of the semester.
